Nigeria Customs Service lost to host Al-Ahly of Egypt 0-3 in the last quarter final game of the ongoing 2018 women’s African club championship in Cairo.
Ahly launched a passionate display, crushing the Nigerian representatives 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 29-27) in front of their home fans at the Ahly hall on Monday night.
The host fed on the support of their fans beating Nigeria 25-13 in the first set of the game.
A series of kill blocks right at the end of the 2nd set helped them to get a real grip, winning 25-9.
Having lost the first two sets, the Customs ladies tried a fightback but momentum was firmly with Ahly going into the 3rd set and they easily took it 29-27.
Aya Elshamy of Al Ahly said the third set of the quarter finals match was tough and difficult as the Nigeria ladies did not give up till the point of the last set was won.
In the play-off position 5 to 8 games, Nigeria Custom Service will today play Bafia of Cameroon by 2pm.
Defending champion, CFC Carthage of Tunisia, Hosts and record holders Al Ahly of Egypt (8 titles) Seven times champions Pipeline of Kenya and 2017 bronze medallists, Prisons of Kenya will slug it out in the Semifinals of the tournament.
