Enyimba FC flying winger Stanley Sopuruchi Dimgba has hailed the impact of team’s head coach Paul Aigbogun on his early season form with the People’s Elephant.
Dimgba, 24, is Enyimba’s top scorer so far in this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League with four goals and has reenacted the form which made him a thorn in the flesh of opposing defenders in the 2014/15 football season.
The former Sunshine Stars left footed winger explained to Enyimba Media on Tuesday why he has started the season on a high, compared to previous seasons.
“Let me just say I have a lot of responsibilities to do now,” began Dimgba. “You know, last season was the first time I played under coach (Gbenga) Ogunbote and if you’re playing under a coach for the first time, you can find it difficult to do certain things.”
Ogunbote left Enyimba after just one season in charge of the Aba Elephants to join Rangers, leaving the former African champions to recall Aigbogun for a second stint as head coach.
“I have played under Coach Paul (Aigbogun) at Warri Wolves for two years and I believe that’s the secret of my success,” posited the former Under-23 international.
“He knows how I play, he knows my talent, he knows everything and he knows how to use me.
“I just thank God because the moment Enyimba brought Coach Paul, I knew that definitely, things are going to work for my own good,” submitted the 2015 Under-23 AFCON winner.
Dimgba and his Enyimba teammates are preparing for their CAF Confederation Cup second leg first round tie against Beninoise side Energie FC on Sunday in Calabar. Enyimba have a healthy 2-0 lead from the first leg in Cotonou.
