Ahead of a the big clash between The Elephants of Aba (Enyimba) and The Olukoya boys (MFM FC), Sikiru Olatunbosun of MFM FC has expressed his confidence in the ability of the team to put up a good show at the UJ Esuene Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
“Everytime MFM FC play Enyimba there has never been a winner; from friendlies to league games, “he said on Tuesday night in a phone conversation with www.aclsports.com
“Last season we played 0-0 and 1-1; two seasons ago we played goalless in both legs of the league fixture. This season we’re playing away first and I know it’s going to be a tough game, but with the calibre of players we have and the kind of game we played against Katsina at the weekend we are going to have a good outing.”
MFM FC have struggled in front of goal converting very little of their numerous chances created every game. Coming up against Fatau Dauda of Enyimba who has five clean sheets – 2nd joint top in the league; one wonders how MFM hope to get past Dauda in goal considering their goalscoring struggles.
“You know in the game of football, you might have been consistent with clean sheets but the next game is always a different one and MFM FC is different from other teams,” the MFM attacker said. “Nobody knows what is going to happen tomorrow but I believe that in tomorrow’s game, we are going to score and get a win or a draw as well,” he added.
On fans expectation for the big game, Sikiru said: “They have to believe in us. Against Katsina at the weekend, we were 0-1 down at home and came back to win 2-1 and this season we haven’t had any away point so this match is a must win or draw for us to get our first away point.”
Why is that so? “This season is different from last season because the way we play our away game is different from how we play our home games. Also, it’s not like we aren’t putting in a fight in those games, we are; but I believe tomorrow’s game is going to be entirely different from all our away games,” he said.
The rescheduled fixture due to continental commitment of both teams, kicks-off 4pm on Wednesday afternoon at the UJ Esuene Stadium.
