Former Super Eagles striker Uche Nwofor has rejoined 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enugu Rangers.
Nwofor, 26, a shock inclusion in Stephen Keshi’s 23-man Nigerian squad to the last FIFA World Cup in Brazil last played for Slovakian side AS Trencin in the 2016/17 football season but has been unattached since last summer.
The striker joins Gbenga Ogunbote’s men till the end of the season after having played for the Flying Antelopes in the 2010-11 football league season, most notably scoring a brace against his former club Shooting stars in Abeokuta.
Nwofor is not the only former Super Eagles star joining Rangers as the club also announced the capture of another former Rangers midfielder Ugonna Uzochukwu who last played for Rangers in 2014.
Uzochukwu was part of the Super Eagles side which finished third at the 2014 African Nations’ Championship, scoring Nigeria’s first goal in the miraculous 4-3 comeback win over Morocco in the quarter-final match in Cape Town.
Both Nwofor and Uzochukwu are Rangers’ first piece of transfer business in the NPFL mid-season transfer window which opened on Monday and will last for one month. The club are currently seventh on the league table and visit FC Ifeanyiubah in an Oriental derby this weekend.
