Some 77 coaches have submitted CVs for the vacant coaching role of Cameroon national team, according to the country’s football federation, FECAFOOT.
The Indomitable Lions are without a head coach following the departure of Belgian manager Hugo Broos, who led the team to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Former France coach Raymond Domenech, former Cote D’Ivoire and Nigeria coach Philippe Troussier and Alain Giresse are among those vying for the position.
Cameroon former captain Rigobert Song, who currently handles the home-based senior team, is the only local candidate on the list.
However, Nigerian Samson Siasia figures as well in the roster and would be counting on his pedigree of a talent groomer to convince the vetting committee.
The successful candidate would also be tasked with the development of young players, which FECAFOOT says is important for the future of the country’s football.
The committee will release a shortlist of three favourite candidates before a final interview, according to officials.
