Two second half goals by Isiaka Oladuntoye and Stanley Dimgba gave former African champions Enyimba a 2-0 win over Malian side Djoliba in a CAF Confederation Cup group stage game on Sunday.
In the game decided at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Enyimba laboured for most of the first half but defender Oladuntoye shot them in front just after the break with a brilliant effort from a corner kick.
Paul Aigbogun’s men sealed victory nine minutes from time when substitute Stanley Dimgba converted from the penalty spot after Freedom Omofoman was fouled inside the penalty box.
Sunday’s win extended Enyimba’s unbeaten run in this year’s competition to five games and places them on top of their group after the first round of matches.
In the group’s other game, Ivorian side AC Williamsville defeated Congolese outfit CARA Brazaville 1-0 in their first ever group stage encounter in a CAF competition on Sunday.
Iri Zan Bi scored the game’s only goal in the eighteenth minute for Williamsville who now face a trip to neighbours Djoliba in the next ten days for their second group game.
Enyimba will be guests of CARA Brazaville in Congo for their second group game next week Wednesday. In the mean time, the People’s Elephant will return to league duties this Wednesday when they host FC Ifeanyiubah in Calabar.
Good job up enyimba fc
