Senegal have commenced groundwork for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia, perching camp in Saly-Portudal, a seaside resort area, south of the country’s capital Dakar.
However, only seven players showed up on Wednesday evening, but a full house is expected after the weekend, according to the football association.
Music and dance would be allowed as part of the preparations, local football officials said, to provide desired relaxation and inspiration for the players.
An initial arrangement to continue preparations in Europe before heading for Russia is yet to be confirmed by the FA.
The Teranga Lions coach Aliou Cisse announced that the team’s star player Sadio Mané of Liverpool would join the group in Saly-Portudal after the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.
The coach named his 23-man squad for the Mundial last week, snubbing the likes of Papy Djilobodji, Armand Traoré, Pape Souaré, Assane Dioussé, Younousse Sankharé, Opa Nguette and Nantais Santy Ngom.
Senegal are pitted against Poland, Japan and Colombia in Group H.
