The head coach of Tojemarine HC, Agboola Shittu said his team is aiming for the title in the 2024 Ardova Handball Premier League.
Tojemarine finished second position at the 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League three years after it came into existence.
Shittu said the management of the club has created an enabling environment for the players adding that the one month camping has helped the team blend.
The 2003 All African Games bronze medallist said, “TojeMarine HC will be hoping to improve on last league performance and league standing. I am not promising anything but the team wants to take each game has they come.
“I am aware that other teams are serious contenders for the league and will want to upset the team following our standing last years”, Shittu told www.aclsports.com
He said, “TojeMarine have been preparing very well for the first phase of the 2024 Ardova Handball Premier League coming up in Benin City this month; we are gracious that the team management gave us a one month close camping and I believe this will really help the team”.
The coach of Nigeria U18 Girls team revealed that the club has signed five players from different club sides.
“I am glad to announce that TojeMarine Handball Club has signed the following players which I believe will help us improve on our last league position: John Shagari (Niger United), Solomon Yusuf (Kano Pillars), Sanni Bature (Free Transfer), Chukwu Michael (Free Transfer) and Suleiman Yusuf (Rima Strikers)”.
Asked if he has harnessed the potential of the young side, Shittu said, “The results are there for assessment. I am glad I have been able to impart contemporary knowledge to the young lads”.
Shittu believes that some of the players who went to the 13th African Games are expected to bring in their expertise into the squad ahead of the Ardova League.
