Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) midfield star Anieite Uko is relishing his first ever experience in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Uko, born 18th July, 2003, joined 3SC from NNL side Vandrezzer before the start of the season and has continued to grow in leaps and bounds ever since making his NPFL debut for the side on January 3, 2022.

The midfielder is Shooting Stars’ top assist maker so far this term and the Akwa-Ibom born player is enjoying every bit of it.

“It (playing in the NPFL) has been great and I cannot be grateful enough,” he told www.aclsports.com with a cute smile on his face.

“The feeling is great. Playing in the top flight is amazing and I’m enjoying every bit of the experience.”

Uko was in action for the entire duration when Shooting Stars went down 0-2 at league leaders Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The result meant that 3SC are now just two points clear of the relegation zone. The deep-lying playmaker admitted afterwards that the mood in the team was not the best currently.

“Nobody is happy losing a match. We gave everything in the game but the day was not for us. The feeling among the players and management is not great but we have to accept our fate and move on to the next one.

Up next for the Oluyole Warriors is a crunchy home tie against Kano Pillars at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan on Sunday.

His side are currently on a run of five games without a win but Uko is sure this will not culminate in relegation at the end of the season.

“It is a phase in football that we all pass through. We (3SC) are only paying a price for staying in the NNL for too long so coming back to the NPFL, you will face some challenges, some rough edges but surely we will never go down.

“100% I can assure the fans that we will never go down,” he emphasised.

Uko has featured eleven times (including nine starts) for the Oluyole Warriors this season and has three assists.
