Nigeria left back Ngozi Ebere has joined Cypriot Women League side Barcelona FA. The former Rivers Angels star completed her move to the Cyprus FA Cup finalists from French giants Paris St Germain on Wednesday.
Ebere’s first major assignment with the Limassol based side is expected to be the Superettan Cup final between BARCELONA FA Women and APOLLON Ladies to be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Community Stadium in Parekklisia.
“Limassol is a very beautiful city and I also love the weather of the Island,” Ebere told the club’s website.
“I’m really very happy about my choice of playing at BARCELONA FA Women. I feel very good playing for the team which was a great challenge for me and I came to the team to reinforce it with my experience and lead it to success,” she added.
Ebere, 26, was part of the Nigerian women national side that won the Africa Women’s Championships in 2014 and 2016 and was also part of the Paris St Germain Feminine side which reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2016.
Good on the overlap and very dangerous in set-play situations, Ebere has been training with her new teammates and is hoping for more success in Cyprus, starting from Sunday’s final.
“Our team is working very hard in the face of the final where we will fight for the cup that we want too much and believe much more than our opponent.
“The climate in the team is excellent and we are trying to stay focused on this game which is very important for us and for psychological reasons,” she concluded.
Ngozi Ebere is the second former Rivers Angels and Super Falcons star to join a top European club within the last week after Francisca Ordega’s switch to Atletico Madrid last weekend.
