In a bid to intimate referees of the latest developments in Karate, the Zonal Representative, James Aina organised a refresher course for about 70 referees in the South/South geo-political zones of the country.

The Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) board member, James Aina said the three day course is to impact knowledge of the sports ahead of the national championships as well as international championships.

He said the refresher course was to keep coaches and referees abreast with current rules and regulations of the sport.

“Participants should understand what is being given them, go home and spread the message of the new rules and forgotten ethics of coaching profession to the young and upcoming judokas,’’ he said.

“The refresher course for technical officials is important and will improve the general standard of the sport”.

According to him, “the Referees came from from Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta and Edo. The programme really went a long way to bring our coaching skills up to date also impacted our athletes”.
