Heartland FC starlet Francis Momoh is hoping to make a big impression in his debut Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season with the Naze Millionaires.
Momoh was quite some revelation for Heartland as they dominated Nigeria’s second division last season, notching eight goals in his first ever season as a professional, a good contribution to his side’s promotion back to the top flight.
As a greenhorn in professional football, the Kaduna-born attacker struggled in the opening stage of his Heartland career but grew to become an important part of the Heartland side, featuring in over twenty league games for his side. “It was so difficult for me at the start. I never dominated the first stanza but thank God I managed to meet up at the second stanza and did my best for the team,” Momoh told www.aclsports.com
For a young lad traveling over six hundred kilometers from his comfort zone in pursuit of fame and excellence with his talent, the journey must have been an uneasy one. “It was a very difficult task for me and my personal training. It was also difficult coming all the way from Kaduna but with the encouragement I had from my coaches and teammates so I thank God for everything,” said Momoh.
“The likes of Ehis Kenneth of El-Kanemi, he’s a league player and he encouraged me so so much and the players at Plateau United, the likes of Obaje (Joshua), they encouraged me very well too.”
With the new Nigeria Professional Football League season set to get underway in December, Momoh is ready to ruffle feathers with his role models in the league. He is gradually becoming the toast of the Owerri fans
“Playing with the big boys will do myself and my career a lot of good and I know it is not going to be easy but I will work hard to meet the standards. All I want for this season is that, this new season, I want to blow off,” Momoh wrapped.
Momoh’s Heartland are one of the four sides promoted to the top flight at the end of the second tier Nigerian National League in October.
