Super Eagles B captain Ikechukwu Ezenwa is looking to join two-time African Champions Enyimba before the commencement of the 2017/18 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
Ezenwa has been without a club since FC Ifeanyiubah decided to cut their losses on the former Sunshine Stars goalkeeper at the end of last season.
A new salary cap at the Nnewi-based club ensured that Ezenwa, who was busy with the Nigerian national teams for most parts of last season was released to look for other employers. With most NPFL sides through with their registration process, only Enyimba were willing to take on Ezenwa despite the club’s goalkeeping department looking filled enough.
If the deal goes through, Ezenwa, 29 will be competing with respected Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatau Dauda and experienced former Kano Pillars goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai.
Enyimba are currently camping in Ado-Ekiti where they will face Ezenwa’s former club Sunshine Stars in a friendly on Tuesday ahead of the NPFL Invitational tournament in Kano starting from December 11.
The home based Super Eagles are also one of the participating teams in the Kano tournament.
