The week long Legacy volleyball club championship ended at the weekend with host team, Legacy, the biggest winners in the competition.
In the third place match, Festac volleyball club (Lagos) defeated Laspotech (Lagos) 3-0 in the ladies category while B-Shockers (Kaduna) defeated Offa (Kwara) 3-2 to emerge third.
In the final match between BGY ladies (Oyo) and Legacy ladies (Lagos), the scoreline was a repeat of what we witnessed in the final group game between these two. It was a keenly contested game between both teams as host team, Legacy defeated the team from Oyo state 3-1 to retain their title.
Legacy men in the same vein avenged last year’s defeat to defending champions, Sunshine strikers from Ondo state, in style. The host team won 3-0 and also didn’t drop a set all through the competition en route being crowned champions.
On avenging last year’s loss to Legacy first team player Seun Adegbite said: “It’s sweet (laughing)... Knowing that Ondo team has been together for a long time as a team and are a big threat to teams. But to me sincerely, it wasn’t surprising because we really prepared well for the games. Every player had to make a point of why they are called good players.”
B-Shockers and Festac went home with N100,000 in cash prize for coming third in the male and female category respectively. In second place, Sunshine strikers and BGY ladies were rewarded with N200,000 and N150,000 respectively while host team, Legacy took home a whooping sum of N300,000 and N250,000 in the male and female category respectively.
