The President of Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), Prince Timothy Nsirim said the secretariat has itemised programs that will bring out the best of the country’s athletes.

Nsirim who was in Abuja to clear Judo equipment sent by the International Judo Federation (IJF) disclosed this in an exclusive interview on Monday. The philanthropist told aclsports.com that the equipments to be cleared within a week includes Judo mats and Judo-gees. “Since I became the Vice President and later President of this unique federation, I know the number of tournaments I financed. I’m ready to make more sacrifices for the athletes and coaches because I believe in them”, Nsirim said.

He said former president, Honourable Isa Matori laid a solid foundation for him to build on. “My predecessor, Hon Isa Matori (former House Of Representative member) is a good man. I worked with him as the Vice President of the NJF and I intend bringing him back on board to support our federation”, he said.
He revealed that plans are underway to identify veterans who have invested into Judo, honour them and propagate them to Nigerians.

“Before I leave I want to discover all the veterans. The first Nigeria medalist Alex Dauda, an All African Games gold medallist (from the then Gongola) lost his life last year and nobody remembered him. The veterans must be remembered and their names written in gold”, he ended.

He said the current board of the federation has put plans in place to effectively manage and reorganise the sports in line with international best practices.
