Chelsea FC today completed and confirmed the signing of England international, Ross Barkley from Everton. The 24-year-old who signed a five-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the iconic number 8 shirt previously worn by Frank Lampard.

“I’m overwhelmed, I’m looking forward to it and I’m really excited to get started,” Barkley said.

“To be given a fresh start at a new club like Chelsea, it’s unbelievable for me. I’m looking forward to continuing where I left off at the end of last season and hoping to improve and add more goals to my game.”

Barkley, a strong lad with huge physical presence will provide Chelsea with a lot of options as the England international is capable of playing in a number of roles which includes the number 10 role behind the striker, a deeper midfield role or in an advanced wide position.

A hamstring injury which he sustained during the summer prevented his move away from the Toffees and has kept him out of action since August. He is however available for Chelsea and eligible to play for the Blues in all four competitions.
