Kwara Falcons Basketball Club have appointed Lateef Erinfolami as the club’s new head coach. The former Lagos Islander and First Deepwater head coach has replaced Aderemi Adewunmi, whose current contract expired at the end of last year.

Umar Bala, formerly of ASPAC basketball Club of Cotonou and Aderemi Adewunmi were all targets but the club officials settled for the former Dolphins coach.

Erinfolami, who has previously also managed Nuwaidrat Basketball Club in Bahrain and was also part of the Nigeria Basketball coaching crew to the All African Games 2016 in Congo, emerged as the preferred candidate and the club have acted swiftly to appoint him.

Club’s chairman Dr.Joseph Adeyemo in a statement said,”Lateef greatly impressed us with his knowledge of our objective and had a clear plan of how he would improve our team.”

“He’s a man who has the experience as far as basketball is concern and we believe his knowledge of the game will be beneficial to our club and association in the state.”

Club secretary Bello Azeez added that,“We were determined to appoint someone with League experience or an extensive knowledge of Nigeria Basketball, most especially someone that will have a huge contribution to our developmental programme at the grassroot level because we want to have an identity where we will have home grown talents in our team.”

“Lateef has been successful in management at clubs with a strong and stable background the kind of foundation we are able to give to our managers. We look forward to working with Lateef and supporting him to help achieve our goal.”

The former D’Tigers point guard in the ’80s who has signed a year contract with an option to extend, will be assisted by ex-Falcons and Custom Captain, Baba Jubril.
