The Nigerian Under 16s arrived in Japan for the invitational tourney earlier this week and faced the Netherlands and the hosts Japan in their first two games which ended in 1-0 and 6-1 defeats respectively.

The Haruna Ilerika side came into this final game with the hope of finishing the tournament on a winning note, but it was not meant to be as they left the Asian country without a win.

Ilerika stressed the need to compete and better the performance they recorded back in 2019, but their display on the pitch of play left many to be desired. One player that stood out is Alanta Azuka, who scored in the games against Japan and the USA.

It is now expected that the side will return to Nigeria in a matter of days following the completion of the tournament in Fukushima, Japan.
