Nigeria Premier Football League side Plateau United have unveiled Mbwas Mangut and Patrick Mancha as the club’s new technical adviser and chief coach respectively, www.aclsports.com reports.

Ahead of the fast-approaching 2023/24 season, the management decided to turn their attention to the duo following the departure of Hamza Abara and Fidelis Ilechukwu, who has already since been unveiled as Rangers’ new coach.
Mangut, until his appointment, worked at Rangers International of Enugu as assistant coach to Salisu Yusuf and Abdu Maikaba, while Mancha who was responsible for the promotion of Plateau United back to the topflight in 2016, makes a return to the team. The duo were unveiled at an elaborate ceremony held at the Club House in Jos on Wednesday.
Speaking at the occasion, General Manager of Plateau United Habila Hosea Mutla said the club’s management opted to go for the homegrown coaches because of their contributions to the development of the team and the game.
“As management, we decided to come down home and after a careful study of our coaches, we settled for the Mbwas and Patrick who have contributed to the success of the team in the past,” Habila said.
On his part, the new Technical Adviser of the team, Mangut thanked the management for finding him and his assistant worthy to work with the side, assuring them that they will do their best for the success of the team. He also solicited the support and cooperation of all and sundry to enable them to succeed.
Plateau United missed out on the NPFL championship playoffs and lost out in the semi-finals of the Federation Cup in the just concluded season.
Mangut, a Nigerian league legend and Mancha signed three-year deals with the club and are expected to resume duties on Thursday.
The well-attended occasion attracted Members of the Plateau Football Coaches Association, Plateau Referees Council, members of the Sports Writers Association, SWAN, and other critical stakeholders.
