Two times National Champion, Stephen Izolo told www.aclsports.com  that there is no going back in dominating the men’s 65kg freestyle category at the national level.

Stephen Izolo (Dynamite Club) defeated Daniel Amas (Bayelsa State) 2 to 1 points to retain his national title in the men’s 65kg freestyle event at the just concluded 2nd Gov Diri National Wrestling Classics (2023) in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State.

Izolo said defeating the five times African Champion for the second consecutive time is a big deal for him.

He said, “Thank God for giving me the strength to retain the 65kg Men Freestyle event. It was very tough against one of the most experienced wrestlers in the country but I was able to overcome him.

“It is a privilege to be under the guidance of 14 times African Champion, Victor Kodei. He has been one of my pillars, teaching me the necessary skills and techniques as well as feeding me; he is the best coach in the world.

The fast-rising wrestler said his next dream is to win an African title at next year’s African Games in Ghana.
