The head coach of Plateau Peacocks Handball Club, Yusuf Abdulkadir has stated that his target is to win the 2024 Ardova Handball Premier League.
Abdulkadri, who led Plateau Peacocks to a third-place finish last season, said his side remains one of the most consistent women’s clubs in Nigeria.
The IHF B License coach told www.aclsports.com that he will continue to encourage younger players to grow in the club.
He said, “The players will continue to give their best shot in the league. Last season, the club finished second position behind Safety Babes and Defenders Babes; we got to stay there or improve on our position.
“We are very positive we will do better than what we did last season. Plateau Peacocks want to win the league and if possible attend the 2024 African Club Championship.
“I will encourage young players to grow in the team. We remain one of the clubs that have continued to use homegrown players to replace former players”.
He commended Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang for supporting other sports in the state, promising not to let the state down this season.
Abdulkadri said, “Plateau Peacocks HC wants to appreciate Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his support since he took over the affairs of the state. The club has enjoyed total support from this present Government and our players on monthly stipends receive their entitlements when due.
“The players want to win the title for His Excellency; we won the title last in 2018 and the players are determined to put their names in the history books of the state”.
Yusuf Abdulkari was part of the coaching crew that won bronze medal at the 13th African Games in Ghana.
