Ahead of Wednesday’s South West Derby against the Sunshine Stars of Akure, MFM FC forward Adewole Adeniji has revealed that MFM FC is ready to pick all three points to remain top of Group A of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The MFM FC academy graduate who has caught the eye of many in his debut season of the NPFL, spoke to ACLSports after the team’s training session on Tuesday morning at the Agege Soccer Temple. Adeniji who has been touted for big things in Nigeria’s top flight league is known for his pace, precision, good ball control, brilliant technique and a eye for goal which has seen him bag three goals so far this season including the winner away at Remo Stars two weeks ago.
“My inspiration is to play to help my team achieve her goal(s) and also make a name for myself,” the MFM FC forward said on what inspires him on the field of play. But without further ado, the Oyo State born attacker gave his opinion on the big game against Sunshine Stars on Wednesday evening saying “Sunshine Stars is a big team and I’m happy to play against them but I’m sure we will get all three points tomorrow. We played against them during pre-season in Port-Harcourt and they won but tomorrow they need to see a different MFM FC side.
“They will come with pressure but we have to calm down and show confidence because we are at home and we are a good side like them. They have many big names in their team but we have young boys who are ready to prove themselves that they are also good players,” Adeniji added.
Having scored thrice this season, Adeniji is not in anyway getting carried away or resting on his oars declaring to scored 20 goals this season. Any personal target(s) for the season? “It’s 20 goals,” he said confidently. Really? “Yeah. I am very sure I can do it because with God all things are possible,’ he added.
Asides being a South West derby, MFM FC of Lagos play host to Sunshine Stars of Akure on Wednesday evening in a crucial top of the table clash with the Akure-based team three points behind MFM FC who top their group with 15 points while Sunshine Stars stay remain in second place with 12 points.
