The African Football League (AFL) has announced a rescheduling of the two matches billed to hold on Wednesday including Wydad AC vs Enyimba, www.aclsports.com reports.
Although the organisers did not state the reason(s) for rescheduling the games, it may not be unconnected to the difficulties being encountered by the away teams.
The news will now come as a huge respite to the management of Nigerian league champions Enyimba FC who had their chartered flight abruptly cancelled after it was reportedly denied landing permits by the Moroccan authorities.
According to the AFL, the times for the Wydad vs Enyimba and Esperance vs TP Mazembe matches will remain the same as initially scheduled.
2022 CAF Champions League winners Wydad Casablanca stole a march on the Nigerian champions after beating the People’s Elephant 1-0 in Uyo in their first leg quarter final clash on Sunday.
Enyimba will be without their vice-captain Somiari Alalibo for the second leg after the centre back was sent off in the dying moments of the game upon Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.
The second leg will now hold at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Morocco on Thursday with Gabonese referee Pierre Atcho in charge of proceedings.
