The 2019 Women’s Afrobasket second round of games were played on Sunday in Dakar, Senegal, with Ivory Coast and Angola, who both lost their opening matches, returning to winning ways.

The Ivorians defeated Egypt 71-67 to move to top of Group A, displacing Senegal to second position. Ivory Coast’s Djefarina Diawara scored 32 points, the highest so far in the tournament.

In Group B, Cameroon saw off Tunisia’s challenge 95-53, winning the first, third and fourth quarters: 23-5, 25-10 and 26-13 but lost the second 21-25.

Angola are current leaders of Group C following their 69-49 win over DR Congo. They dominated all four quarters: 25–17, 13–7, 17–13 and 14–12.

Kenya lost their second game in a row after falling to Cape Verde 64-57, winning only one quarter and losing three: 20-11, 12-16, 11-16 and 14-21.

The next round of games will be played on Tuesday August 13.
