Two players were scrapped from Senegal’s initial AFCON list, which coach Aliou Cisse published a day after his team thumped Murcia, a division 3 Spanish club, 7-0 in a friendly match.
Chateauroux midfielder Sidy Sarr and Sandy Noum of Nantes, both based in France, were dropped due to tactical reasons, according to coach Cissé.
The Teranga Lions will also be doing without key players like Kara Mbodji, Cheikh Ndoye, Diafra Sakho and Adama Mbengue, who all played at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but were sidelined for the upcoming tournament due to injuries and were not included in the preliminary roster.
However, figuring on the list are top names like Sadio Mane, Kalidou Koulibaly, Gana Gueye and Keita Baldé.
Currently in camp in Alicante, Spain, Senegal will wrap up preparations with a friendly match against Nigeria on June 16 before departing for the AFCON in Egypt where they will face Tanzania, Algeria and Kenya in Group C.
