Arsenal have rejected an opening bid in the region of £30million from Liverpool for the transfer of Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.
According to reports from Standard Sport, Liverpool are willing to capitalise on Chamberlain’s preference for a move to Anfield to secure the services of the England international at a lower price compared to what Chelsea are offering.
Chamberlain, 24, reportedly prefers a switch to Anfield than Stamford Bridge because of his desire to play in central midfield instead of the right wing-back role offered by Chelsea’s Antonio Conte.
However, Arsenal are open to keeping Oxlade-Chamberlain if Liverpool are unwilling to meet their valuation of the winger and it now appears a possibility he could stay at Emirates Stadium and see out the final year of his contract should an agreement not be reached.
Will Liverpool meet Arsenal’s valuation or will they wait to land the 24-year-old on a free transfer?
