Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been nominated for the Nottingham Forest Player of the season award, www.aclsports.com reports.
When the Tricky Trees gained promotion to the Premier League, the Nigerian striker was snapped up to lead the line for them as they seek to maintain their top-flight status.
Awoniyi’s debut season in English football has been topsy-turvy until he returned in April to help his side beat the drop with crucial goals against Chelsea and Arsenal.
After scoring in his second league game to help the club claim their first three points of the season, the former Liverpool man’s season nosedived.

Due to injury and lack of fitness, Awoniyi missed three months of action. Since his return in April, the forward has scored important goals to help Nottingham Forest stay up.
The forward, who arrived from Union Berlin last summer after a successful campaign that saw him find the net 20 times in 43 appearances for the club, has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions this term.
His impressive return over the course of the campaign has earned him a nomination for Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Season.
The winner will be announced at the end of the season.
