Nigeria beach volleyball women’s team will embark on a foreign tour ahead of the Olympic Qualifiers scheduled for 19th to 23rd June, 2024 in Morocco, www.aclsports.com reports.
The women’s beach volleyball team won a bronze medal at the 13th African Games in Ghana to book a place in the qualifiers.
The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod told www.aclsports.com that he was confident that Nigeria would qualify for the tournament in Paris having come so close twice.
He said, “This time around we are not going to play second fiddle because it is our desire to get the ticket. We’ve always been playing second fiddle but enough is enough and that is why we are preparing the players ahead of time.
“We know that there are several challenges because these are young players. While some are writing their WAEC, we have others in the university, we’ve been talking to the families so that we will understand ourselves very well but preparation is on and by next week they will start their West African tour.
“They will be going to Ghana, Lome, Cotonou and Badagry where their final camping will be. We are hopeful that this time around Nigeria will be taking part in the beach volleyball event at the Olympics.”
He assured that the country’s women’s beach volleyball team will give a good account of themselves as preparations has begun for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers next month’
