Algeria international Ishak Belfodil set a new record with his goal for Hoffenheim against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old striker put the Germans ahead 44 seconds from kick-off to become the scorer of the fastest goal by an African player in the history of the Champions League, according to MisterChip.
The record was held by Cote D’Ivoire international Seydou Doumbia, who scored a 68 second goal against Olympiakos in 2017.
Belfodil goal was quickly cancelled out by Sergio Aguero on 7th minute before David Silva sealed his side’s away victory three minutes from full time.
The Algerian played for Parma and Inter Milan before joining Hoffenheim in May the year.
