Nigeria international forward Victor Boniface netted a brace to help Bayer Leverkusen cruise past Heidenheim on Sunday to extend his side’s 100% record at the BayArena in the Bundesliga season, www.aclsports.com reports.
Boniface, 22, fresh from scoring in the 4-0 rout of BK Hacken in the Europa League on Thursday followed that performance with another brace in the Bundesliga at home on Sunday. His latest pair of goals took his season tally to eight goals in eight games in all competitions for Die Werkself.
Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios played the ball to the feet of Victor Boniface, who showed great strength to turn and beat Tim Siersleben before finishing expertly into the bottom right corner for the game’s opening goal after nine minutes.
Boniface had a fine performance in the first half and after the break, he completed his second brace of the season at the BayArena.
The second half saw a different approach from the visitors and they found themselves level. Jan-Niklas Beste found Eren Dinkçi on the edge of the box, and last weekend’s two-goal hero calmly slotted into the bottom corner of the Leverkusen net. Just moments later, Leverkusen got their back after another fabulous pass from Palacios got to Jonas Hofmann, who slotted past a helpless Müller.
Later in the game, Leverkusen scored in a matter of minutes to put the game beyond the visitors. Álejandro Grimaldo was felled in a six-yard box melee, and Boniface was given the responsibility and he struck down the middle from the spot. Substitute Amine Adli rounded off the game in style, latching onto Grimaldo’s ball before making a perfect lob over Müller for 4-1. The win takes Leverkusen’s point tally to 13 for the season, keeping pace with leaders Bayern Munich after five Bundesliga games.
Boniface, who was named the Bundesliga player of the month, has now scored 8 goals and made 3 assists in just eight games in all competitions for Leverkusen this season.
