Nigerian league champions Rivers United have been drawn to face Tanzanian champions Young Africans (Yanga) in the quarter finals of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC).
The draws for the quarter and semi-final stages of the competition were conducted in Cairo on Wednesday night with Rivers United having to face Yanga once again after both teams met two years ago.
Rivers United finished second in Group B after losing to ASEC Mimosas in their final group game on Sunday while Yanga finished top of Group D on goals difference ahead of Tunisian side US Monastir.

As champions of their respective leagues, both Rivers United and Yanga began the 2022/2023 continental season in the Champions League but were eliminated and subsequently dropped into the Confederation Cup.
When both teams met in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League in 2021, Rivers United defeated Yanga home and away, with the Pride of Rivers winning each leg 1-0.
By the virtue of finishing second in their group, Rivers United will host the first leg at the Nest of Champions, Uyo on April 23 while the return leg holds in Dar es Salaam exactly a week later.
Winner over two legs will face either Pyramids of Egypt or Marumo Gallants of South Africa in the semi final of the competition.
