Sochima Victor Ndukauba dedicates Rivers United win to late Dad.

Rivers United goalkeeper Sochima Victor Ndukauba has dedicated his team’s 3-1 win over DC Motema Pembe in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) to his Dad who passed away earlier this month.

Sochima has been in a rich vein of form since his re-instalment as Rivers United’s first choice and his form has reflected in the club’s fortunes both in domestic and continental matches.

Sochima was in goal for the entire duration of Thursday’s game decided at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo after which his side maintained top spot in Group B.

“I was emotional all through the game because it was my first appearance since his death,” Sochima told www.aclsports.com in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

“It was a tough situation but I had to do my job as a professional and at the same time put in a good performance to help my team,” he added.

Pa Ndukauba passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the age of 88. Sochima Ndukauba made three saves in Thursday’s game but conceded for the first time in the group stage in the second half.

Sochima however sees the team’s victory worth celebrating in honour of his late Dad.

“Unfortunately, there was no cleansheet to crown it all but it is worth celebrating and I give kudos to my teammates for a job well done,” said the former Delta Force goalkeeper.

Sochima and his Rivers United counterparts will face Rangers International in their last rescheduled match of the first stanza of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) 2022/2023 season at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
