First choice goalkeeper of Sudanese side Al-Hilal Omdurman Jamaal Magoola Salim has warned Nigerian champions Enyimba that Hilal fans will have an impact on the game when both sides meet in the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) on Sunday.
Salim who produced an excellent performance in the 0-0 first leg meeting between both sides in Aba told www.aclsports.com that the second leg of the first round clash will be a different ball game with the hosts’ vociferous fans in attendance.
“Most of the time, our fans put a lot of efforts into our home games, they come all out,” Salim told www.aclsports.com
“It’s a very good advantage for us to take this chance at home and you know this is the game which is going to make us qualify for the group stage because we have not been in the Champions League for the past two to three seasons.
“I think they (fans) will come out in their numbers to see this game and support us.”
The 24-year old stood between Enyimba and victory when both sides met at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on September 15, pulling off a string of impressive saves in the second half.
With league champions Al Merriekh already eliminated from the Champions League, Salim admits that his side are under pressure to do the nation proud but they are equipped for the task.
“The pressure is there so we have to do our best and represent the country,” continued the Ugandan international.
“Everyone is behind us right here at home and hopefully we’re going to make it to the group stages
“The first leg was very tough for us, we were one man less (from the first half). Enyimba had a lot of chances and they played well but didn’t utilise their chances. We have now prepared well and we have the advantage at home,” he added.
Sunday’s game billed for the Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman will kick off at 6:30pm Nigerian time with a place in the lucrative group stage reserved for the winner of the contest while the losing side will drop to the playoff round of the Confederation Cup.
