Rangers International duo of Chinemerem Ugwueze and Frank Uwumiro have expressed their optimism about the side’s ability to complete the job against U.S de Zilimadjou in the second leg of their CAF Champions League first preliminary round clash, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Nigerian league champions, who defeated the Comoros Islands champions 1-0 in the first leg of their meeting in Uyo last Sunday, are preparing for the second installment of the encounter at the same venue on Friday afternoon.
Club captain Ugwueze, in a chat with the club’s media ahead of the fixture, said that he and his teammates are in the best possible shape to do the nation proud and qualify for the next round of the competition.
“Since the end of the first leg which we won by God’s special grace, we have shifted our preparation gear to the next level which I believe will see us through the second leg. Yes, we won the first leg but are not underrating our opponents rather, we are more focused and determined to play a good game and win well for our teaming fans and supporters,” stated the young midfielder.
Frank, who was the match-winner in the first leg, also echoed the captain’s optimism, stressing that having seen how the team from Comoros Islands played, he and his teammates will be better prepared going into the Friday game.
“Our opponents are the champions of their country and they showed some stuff in the first leg but with what we have been going through after that encounter, I am very optimistic of a good second leg which we are hosting,” said Uwumiro.
The Flying Antelopes will host Zilimadjou in the second leg of their CAFCL first preliminary round fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State with kickoff slated for 3 pm (Nigerian time).
