Nigerian side Remo Stars on Friday departed the country for Morocco ahead of this weekend’s CAF Champions League (CAFCL) clash with Morocco side ASFAR in Rabat, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Sky Blue Stars defeated ASFAR 2-1 in the first leg of their first preliminary round clash in Ikenne last weekend and will be needing a strong result to reach the final stage of qualification before the money-spinning group stage of Africa’s flagship club football competition.
Ahead of Sunday’s game, a group of players and officials departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos in the early hours of Friday morning aboard a Royal Air Maroc flight heading to Casablanca, Morocco.
The team will land in in the Moroccan capital just before noon before completing their trip with a one-hour road trip to Rabat, Morocco where the match is expected to take place.
The Remo Stars contingent is led by the team’s CEO Adedoyin Ogungbefun and comprises of players, coaching staff and members of the club’s management.
Meanwhile, Daniel Ogunmodede has named a 20-man squad for the game against the Moroccan giants with the likes of Sikiru Alimi, Nduka Junior, goalscorer in the first leg, and Alex Oyowah all listed.
The team is expected to have a feel of Stade Municipal de kenitra – the pitch where the game will be played – on Saturday 24 hours before the game’s kickoff.
Sunday’s game has been fixed for 9pm(Nigerian time), with temperature expected to be at 19°C in the North African city.
