The Director of Sports, Confédération Africaine de Handball (CAHB), Adje Assemian revealed that medical personnel will be giving top priority in the delegate of teams participating in continental championships.
Assemian stated this during a zoom meeting with selected African Sports journalist held by CAHB on Thursday. He said the number of team delegates has been reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic ravishing the world.
He said, “During the heat of the COVID-19, the Confédération Africaine de Handball set up a working group to make some investigation. Some deliberations were made and one of them is that the medical staff of every National Federation will be giving top priority because they are at the frontline. COVID-19 took the world by surprise but this will not stop us from hosting any tournament this year.
“The delegate of each National Federation who wishes to participate in any African Competition will experience reduction in their team delegates. This is part of the preventive measures CAHB is trying to put in place in conjunction with the host country”.
He explained that CAHB rescheduled some of its activities due to the resumption of the game by most of the National Federations.
Assemian said, “Many National Federation are resuming sporting activities in Africa and governments are lifting ban on contact and non contact games; this is why we decided to reschedule some of the African Championships in order to keep the players busy.
