English club, Liverpool have confirmed that their Carabao Cup tie against Aston Villa will go as planned. “Liverpool Football Club can confirm our Carabao Cup quarter-final tie at Aston Villa will take place on Tuesday December 17, 2019,” the club said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Reds had threatened to pull out of the Carabao Cup after the draws ensured they will face Villa a day before their opening match in Qatar in the FIFA World Club Championship.

However, Liverpool have now confirmed that tej club will play that tie at the Villa Park but with a different squad.

“we will be utilising two playing squads simultaneously, with one squad participating in the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar and another in the Carabao Cup, ” the club added.

On their part, organisers, EFL confirmed after failing to find a suitable date for the tie given Liverpool’s commitment, they had no options but to accept the Reds’ request for the match to go on as planned.

“The EFL has been engaged in discussions with Liverpool for a number of months regarding the possibility of needing to find a suitable date, but having considered all possible scenarios, the EFL has now accepted a request from the Club to play the fixture on the scheduled date, ” EFL said in a statement.

The match between the two clubs will kickoff at 7:45 pm on December 17 at the Villa Park.
