Alhaji Tunde Abdulkareem has resigned as the Chairman of Kwara State Athletics Association. Alhaji Abdulkareem confirmed his resignation to www.aclsports.com on Tuesday at his residence in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The former National 400m athlete said his time as Chairman of the association is up wishing the state best of luck.
He said, “I have played my role in the development of athletics in Kwara State and I believe it’s time for me to leave.
“During my tenure as Chairman of the association, we were able to produce National Champions as well as athletes that represented Nigeria at International Championships.
“Due to my exploit, I was voted Vice President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) under Evangelist Solomon Ogba between 2013 to 2017. As the Vice President of Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Zone 2, I have led Team Nigeria to various international championships and so many athletes were discovered”.
The Former Chairman of Accountant Generals in Nigeria said, “When I was contacted by some prominent stakeholders why I resigned two weeks ago, I told them I have to leave when the ovation is loudest. I have built a solid structure of Athletics in Kwara State and I strongly believe we have capable hands that can continue from where I stopped.”

Alhaji Tunde Abdulkareem became the Chairman of Kwara State Athletics Association in 2008 till 2023.
Abdulkareem initiated the All Secondary School Athletics Championship during his first term as Chairman of Kwara State Athletics Association.
