2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Most Valuable Player Ejike Uzoenyi has returned to former club Rangers International, reports www.aclsports.com
Uzoenyi, 29, was the star of Nigeria’s campaign in South Africa in 2014 and would further make the Super Eagles squad to the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 but has since been unable to reach projected heights at club level.
On Monday, former league Champions Rangers announced that the left footed winger has agreed to join the club ahead of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
“The management of Rangers has successfully negotiated a deal with former winger and member of AFCON 2013 winning team in South Africa and Nigeria’ Super Eagles team to the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil, Ejike Uzoenyi, to bring his experience to help the team achieve its target for the coming season,” read the club’s statement.
Rangers will be hoping that Uzoenyi serve as a worthy replacement for prized asset Ibrahim Olawoyin who joined Turkish side Ankara Keciorengucu this summer after two years at the club.
Apart from Uzoenyi, the club have also signed winger Moses Effiong Achare from Plateau United and defenders Chimezie David from Warri Wolves and Olawale Doyeni from Dakkada FC.
The Flying Antelopes resumed for the new season on Monday, September 20, 2021 although there is no date yet for the commencement of the new league season in Nigeria.
