Home based Super Eagles head coach Salisu Yusuf has picked twenty-six (26) players that he will use to prosecute the two-legged African Nations Championship qualifier (CHAN2023Q) against the Black Galaxies of Ghana, www.aclsports.com reports.
No fewer than thirty-six locally based stars have been sweating it out in Abuja for the past two weeks under the watchful eyes of Yusuf and his assistants; Kennedy Boboye, Fatai Osho, Fidelis Ilechukwu, Abubakar Bala and Ike Shorunmu.
The Kano Pillars coach has now picked twenty-six (26) for the two legged assignment with twenty-two (22) travelling for the first leg game in Ghana this weekend.
Heading Yusuf’s squad is the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) topscorer for the 2021/2022 season Chijioke Akuneto who joins six other Rivers United players in the squad traveling to Ghana.
The list also includes Babatunde Bello, Sani Faisal, Chiamaka Madu, Olorunleke Ojo and Adeyinka Adewale who were recently invited to the main Super Eagles team as well as Flying Eagles captain Oluwatosin Adegbite.
Four players will stay back in Abuja ahead of the return leg. They are Christopher Nwaeze, Philip Ozor, Samuel Amadi and Valentine Odoh.
Nigeria’s contingent to Sunday’s 7th African Nations Championship qualifying match against Ghana will storm the city of Cape Coast on Friday ahead of Sunday’s game scheduled to kick-off at 5pm Nigerian time.
