Chukwueze was quite productive in the season under review. He featured in 37 league games, starting 27 of them, and only missed the match against FC Barcelona in the first leg at the Spotify Camp Nou which ended 3-0 in favour of the hosts.
One of his stand-out performances was the game against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in April, which was accurately documented here. In total, the FIFA U17 World Cup winner contributed five assists and scored six goals. It is the first time he has reached double figures in terms of goal contributions in the Spanish topflight since making his debut in 2018.
The award which was voted for by more than 30,000 fans and 26 journalists from the continent, was taken home by the Nigerian ahead of other top African players such as Yassine Bono, Iñaki Williams and Youssef En-Nesyri, among others.
