Enyimba FC attacking midfielder Cyril Olisema says a different looking Enyimba side have the character to scale the hurdle of Guinean champions Horoya AC in the Total CAF Confederation Cup (TotalCAFCC) quarter final.

The People’s Elephant sealed qualification to the last eight with an unbelievable 5-2 win away to Ivorian side FC San Pedro on Sunday and followed it up with their first away win in two years in the NPFL on Wednesday when they beat MFM FC in Lagos.

Olisema who is now a key figure in the Enyimba side under interim head coach Fatai Osho told www.aclsports.com that there is now a clear difference between the Enyimba side that wobbled under Usman Abd’Allah early in the season and the current one.

“I want to thank God for the back-to-back victories in the Confederation Cup and the away win in the rescheduled match against MFM.

“There’s a big difference in the team now. The team have the character now and I believe these victories have brought us back on track and by the special grace of God, we want to continue winning like this,” Olisema enthused.

Perhaps the lesser of the evils?

Nigeria's @EnyimbaFC have been drawn against Guinea's @HACofficiel in the quarter-final of #TotalCAFCC.

First leg will be in Aba on the weekend of March 1.

While Olisema and his teammates were dealing with MFM on the pitch in Agege on Wednesday, Enyimba were drawn against Guinea’s Horoya AC in the quarter final draws held in Cairo, Egypt.

Olisema who has had prior experience in the Confederation Cup with Akwa United says the Guineans are a good side but expects Enyimba’s current form to see them through.

“I’ve never played against our opponents (Horoya) before but we have heard a lot about them that they are a very good side and we have to give them that respect.

“I think our current form will really help us in the quarter final match.

“By the special grace of God, with this winning mentality, we pray more will come like this. This is what we want to continue doing because the winning spirit is there now and I will not say we are there yet but we will never keep our heads down.

“We will continue to do our best and work hard,” added Olisema whose younger brother Ekene played for Lobi Stars in last season’s CAF Champions League.

Enyimba will host Horoya AC in the first leg of their quarter final game on Sunday, March 1, 2020 while the return leg will come up in Conakry a week later.
