President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali (OLY) said the country stands a better chance of winning her first Olympic medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Bayelsa state commissioner for sports told www.aclsports.com that more wrestlers will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics at next year qualifiers.

“You know wrestling has never won a medal at the Olympics in Nigeria before but we are hoping that 2020 is going to be the year for us”.

The former world champion said the Nigeria Wrestling Federation recorded successes in 2019 and is one of the best year for the federation.

He said, “The federation won six gold medals at the African Games, we also attended three grand prix tournaments winning two gold medals at the International level. The Federation attended her first beach wrestling championship winning 1 gold and 1 silver medal getting our first world champion in wrestling was without a doubt one of the highlight of the year for me and I am so excited about 2020”.
