Nigeria Police Force Volleyball player, Dogara Linus has appealed to Governor Umaru Fintiri to motivate the players of the state by upgrading their facilities.
The Adamawa born athlete who made this known on his social media page called for the employment of athletes who have made the state proud
He recalled that the state athletes were given adequate attention between 2002 and 2006.
Linus said, “Athletes need to be motivated not only in football but all games as well. The facilities and equipments for players need to be provided.
“Employment and appointments should be given to the well deserved players to keep them in the state because once a player is good other states will start hunting for them. The athletes get enticed with huge offer just to benefit them more than us, which we do not want that to happen anymore.
He recalled that team sports activities take place at the Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola but things are no longer the same.
The volleyball player said, “Governor Fintiri when I was little boy back in 2000, I vividly remember team sports training activities of the state are been held inside Adamawa state polytechnic Yola. I was a ball boy of football, volleyball, handball and basketball; so when I grew up my love for sports became unconditional.
“His excellency I want to tell you that the last time sports entirely in Adamawa state were given proper attention, care and appointments were back in 2002 and 2006.
“I am a well known volleyball player in Adamawa state and I want let you know that Adamawa state is blessed with potential and talents when it comes to sports both team and individual games. The only thing lacking is motivation from the government, so now we have low morale for the athletes..”.
He said, “I have traveled to places within Nigeria for volleyball tournaments and friendly matches, I have gone to over 30 states in the country and Adamawa athletes are their key players because they were given employment in their sport council.
“I was a victim of circumstances because my contract expired in 2011 as a contract staff but I eventually played for Yobe state including three others”
