Super Eagles youngster, Samuel Chukwueze, celebrated his Aiteo NFF Awards win in style following a superb performance for his club in the LaLiga.

Eagles in Europe takes a look at the midweek performances of some Super Eagles players plying their trade in Europe, with Spain based Chukwueze the standout performer.

Chukwueze on Monday emerged as the winner of the Young player of the year award at the second edition of the Aiteo NFF Awards held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

The Villarreal star saw off competition from Victor Osimhen and Henry Onyekuru to take home the coveted award.

Thereafter, on Tuesday, he showed how deserving he was of the award with an excellent man of the match display against LaLiga giants and leaders, Bracelona.

The 19-year-old, who tormented the Barca defence for 88 minutes, scored Villarreal’s first goal, and assisted their second as his Villrreal side were denied a famous victory by a late Luis Suarez goal in their enthralling 4-4 draw.

He completed the most dribbles in the game, which also had Lionel Messi, and created two chances.

Still in Spain, Levante lost to Athletic Club 3-2 with Moses Simon handed a cameo. He came off the bench to play for just 10 minutes, picking up a yellow card.

Elsewhere, Victor Osimhen missed Sporting Charleroi’s 1-2 defeat at home to Oostende due to an injury.

Another Super Eagles star to miss his side’s game due to an injury is Ola Aina. Torino defeated Sampdoria 2-1 without the Chelsea loanee.

William Troost-Ekong was also missing as Udinese held AC Milan to a 1-1 draw at San Siro. The capable defender was not listed for that trip.

In Germany, it was the end of the road for Jamilu Collins and Paderborn as Hamburg ended their DFB-Pokal dreams with a 2-0 victory in the quarterfinal.

Collins featured from start to finish but was booked as early as the 11th minute.

Finally, in England, the promotion dreams of John Obi Mikel and Middlesbrough appear to be over after another defeat.

With Mikel on from start to finish, Boro lost 1-0 at home to Brentford.

Leon Balogun expectedly played no part as Brighton and Hove Albion were easily dispatched 3-0 at Stamford Bridge by Chelsea in the English Premier League.
