The Foxes defeated Burton Albion 1-3 to continue their brilliant form this season, with Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi in action.
Iheanacho, who has found game time difficult to come by at the club, got a rare start and repaid his manager’s trust within seven minutes when he latched on to a Youri Tielemans pass to put Leicester 0-1 up with a left-footed strike.
Tielemans doubled their advantage 13 minutes as Leicester went into the break with a handy 0-2 lead.
After the restart, it was the home side who started the brightest and were rewarded when they pulled one goal back through Liam Boyce six minutes into the second half.
However, the day will belong to Premier League side when James Maddison restored their two-goal cushion to also seal the win on 89 minutes.
Leicester through to the next round with Iheanacho on for 66 minutes while Ndidi was handed a two-minute cameo after coming on the 88th minute.
Elsewhere, Everton saw off Watford 2-0 at Goodison Park with Alex Iwobi featuring from start to finish.
The victory came thanks to two second-half goals from Mason Holgate and Richarlison’s injury-time goal.
In Germany, it was a defeat for Jamilu Collins and Paderborn as Bayer Leverkusen earned a narrow 1-0 win in the DFB Pokal.
Collins was on from start to finish but helpless as Paderborn crashed out of the cup.
