Victor Osimhen’s form in front of goal isn’t stopping anytime soon following another goal scoring display in the French Ligue 1, just as the forgotten center back, Leon Balogun made his full debut for his new club.
Here is a recap of what happened at the weekend in various European leagues featuring some Super Eagles players led by Osimhen and Balogun.
Osimhen grabbed goal number 13 for Lille when he calmly put them ahead against Marseille on Sunday, but it was not enough as the visitors bounced back to win 1-2.
The goal took Osimhen’s tally for the season to 18 goals in all competitions, making him the leading scorer for the Super Eagles in Europe this season.
Samuel Kalu was absent Dijon held Bordeaux to a 2-2 draw while Josh Maja came off the bench to play for just nine minutes.
Moses Simon was a caged man this time as Nantes were also held to a draw following a goalless affair at home to Metz.
Elsewhere, it was also a goalless affair for Chidozie Awaziem and Leganes as they were held by Real Betis in the Spanish La Liga. Awaziem had an above-average performance to help his side to a clean sheet, but they were without his injured compatriot, Kenneth Omeruo.
for Samuel Chukwueze, it was nothing but a mere cameo following his second half substitute appearance in Villarreal 2-1 win at home to Levante, while Ramon Azeez watched as Granada also won 2-1 to Real Valladolid.
In the German Bundesliga, Jamilu Collins played from start to finish as Paderborn lost 1-2 at home to Hertha Berlin and in Turkey, Shehu Abdullahi helped Bursaspor to a 2-1 victory over Adana Demirspor.
Williams Troost-Ekong was the only Super Eagle in action at the weekend in Serie A and he helped Udinese to a clean sheet against Hellas Verona in their 0-0 draw.
Joe Aribo played for just one minute as Rangers defeated Livington 1-0 in the Scottish league, while the duo of Bonaventure Dennis and Paul Onuachu continued to fire blanks in the Belgian Jupiler for Club Brugge and gent respectively.
For the contingents in England, only those in the Championship tasted action led by the forgotten Leon Balogun, who made his debut for his new team, Wigan in their 2-2 draw at Cardiff City.
Finally, Semi Ajayi and WBA also drew their game 2-2 against Nottingham Forest.
