Super Eagles, Victor Osimhen, is probably in the form of his young life after scoring his 15th goal of the season in Belgium on Saturday.
More on his performance later as Eagles in Europe, EiE, reviews the performance of Super Eagles from the weekend.
Like most leagues in Europe, the English Premier League is on its home run, but only one Super Eagle, Alex Iwobi, is indeed fighting for something.
Iwobi and Arsenal are in an interesting top four race but suffered a setback at the King Power Stadium after a comprehensive defeat to their hosts, Leicester City.
The Foxes put three goals past the Gunners with Wilfred Ndidi, who was booked early in the match, and Iwobi on the pitch for just 45 minutes.
Despite spending just 45 minutes on the pitch, Ndidi won the most tackles in the game, five (5), and two interceptions before he was substituted just before the start of the second half.
Iwobi created just one chance in that heavy defeat.
Success Isaac played for just eight minutes from the bench as Watford lost 1-2 at home to Wolves.
From sitting on the bench to disappearing entirely, there is no end in sight for Leon Balogun and his struggles at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Balogun was not considered good enough for his side’s 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle United as he was not listed.
Still, in England, but in the Sky Bet Championship, John Obi Mikel and Middlesbrough celebrated a win but dropped from the promotion places.
Boro defeated Reading 2-1 at home with Mikel on the pitch from start to finish but have been replaced by Derby County in the last playoffs spot on goal difference, though having also played a game more.
It was a goalless affair at the Den between Millwall and Stoke City, who were complete with Oghenekaro Etebo who featured for 90 minutes.
Etebo completed the most dribbles and passes in the game and added three interceptions to his performance.
It seems Semi Ajayi‘s scoring exploits this season will count for nothing as Rotherham United look destined to play League One football next season after their fourth defeat in the last five matches.
United lost 2-1 promotion-chasing West Brom Albion, with Ajayi putting in an average display.
Elsewhere in Europe, EiE makes a stop in Spain, where Kenneth Omeruo led Leganes to a clean sheet at home to Celta Vigo.
Omeruo, who was the most accurate passer on the pitch on Saturday, made 10 clearances in a goalless draw.
Moses Simon was on the pitch for 45 minutes as Levante went, saw but failed to conquer a Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona, who sealed the LaLiga title with a 1-0 victory.
The other Nigerian in Spain’s top flight division, Samuel Chukwueze, tasted 90 minutes of action as Villarreal were held to a 1-1 draw at home to SD Huesca.
Chukwueze, who could miss the AFCON2019, completed the most dribbles in the tie, four.
It was a good weekend in the Serie A for Ola Aina and Torino, as they proved too strong for one of Italy’s giants, AC Milan.
Torino defeated the Rossoneri 2-0 but Aina only saw three minutes of the action after coming on as a late substitute.
Now, to that story on Victor Osimhen and his brilliant form in Belgium for Sporting Charleroi.
The 19-year-old has been a revelation this season for his club, who he joined on a season-long loan deal from the German side, Wolfsburg.
Osimhen netted his 15th goal of the season at the weekend, and third in four playoff matches, but it was not enough to secure all three points against Oostende as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Osimhen has also assisted four other goals for his teammates this season.
In the German second division, Jamilu Collins and Paderborn could be playing in the Bundesliga next season after another good weekend.
Paderborn saw off FC Heidenheim 3-1 to stay second on the log with Collins on from start to finish.
In the Israeli league, it has been a difficult season for champions, Hapoel Beer Sheva, who have John Ogu in their payroll.
Beer Sheva’s dream of playing in Europe was dented on Sunday after a 0-2 loss at home to Maccabi Netanya.
Ogu, who is on his last season at the club, played that game from start to finish.
In Turkey, Bursaspor was held to a goalless draw with Shehu Abdullahi coming on in the second half to play for 21 minutes.
Earlier on Saturday, Chidozie Awaziem picked up a yellow card but helped his club, Rizespor, to a clean sheet following another goalless affair.
