World basketball governing body, FIBA has sent a reminder to the warring parties in the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) ahead of a fresh election to be conducted by FIBA.
The letter dated July 25, 2018 was directed to the two factional Presidents Musa Kida and Tijani Umar, NOC President Habu Gumel and the Sports Minister, Barr. Solomon Dalung.
“We are hereby kindly reminded that comments and proposed amendments to the statutes shall be submitted on July 31, 2018,” the letter read.
“We thank you for your continued cooperation in the interest of Nigeria Basketball.”
On July 6, FIBA sent a letter confirming the availability of a constitution which could be amended by any of the two factions if necessary and that fresh election will be conducted under their supervision.
A first revision of the statutes will be carried out on August 31, consultation with relevant stakeholders will be done on September 14 while final revision and approval will be done by FIBA on October 15.
The governing body will issue directions regarding the new NBBF election once the statutory revision process has been completed and approved by FIBA.
Pending an election, FIBA will continue to communicate with Musa Kida who has been directed to take charge of (sporting and commercial) Nigeria Basketball International representation.
