Enugu based NPFL, side, Rangers International, are ready to kickstart their 2019 season in the domestic league, according to their manager, Gbenga Ogunbote.
Rangers battle Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry football club, MFM, in a week four encounter billed for the Soccer Temple stadium in Agege, Lagos, on Wednesday.
The match is set to be the sixth meeting between the two sides, with the visitors having the edge in their head to head, having won two games compared to MFM’s one in their previous five.
However, the 2016 league winners are yet to taste victory at the Temple, but are now ready to change that in the words of their coach, Ogunbote, who says there is always a first time.
“Oh, that’s good, we want to break all records,” Ogunbote said after he was reminded by this aclsports.com reporter that Rangers had never won at Agege moments after his team’s final training session on Tuesday.
“There is always a first time, and they have been in the league for four weeks and this is our first game. [So] we want to see what we can get out of the domestic league, too.”
The Flying Antelopes will play their first match of the season in the 2019 campaign after a very busy but successful schedule in the CAF Confederation Cup, CAFCC, where they have safely secured their place in the lucrative group stages of the competition.
On their plan against the Olukoya Boys, the Rangers gaffer says his side will give it their best as every point is very important.
“We will do our best [against MFM], and more importantly [given] that it is an abridged league,” he added. “Every point is important, [so] we are here to see what our strength and gut can get us.”
The game between these two is one of 11 slated for Wednesday and will kickoff at 4pm at the Soccer Temple in Agege.
